I'm also a rookie at making things. I would love to make some of Waverly's clothes or accessories, but alas, besides the basis sewing pattern and cross-stitch, I have no aptitude for sewing or altering.
When it comes to cooking, I'm lucky to punch out three meals a week. It's really not my favorite thing to do and planning meals for a week or two exhausts me just to think about it.
I keep wishing, hoping, and praying that I will stumble upon some untapped skill or ability that will completely transform the way we live. I haven't quite found it yet, but I will tell you that I know how to keep a house clean, maybe not tidy, but clean, thanks to my "chore chart". Look, I hated to stoop to that level for two adults, but nothing was getting done and goodness knows I don't have a lot of time to clean the whole house in one felled swoop. So, I resorted to this chore chart: one big task and two little tasks each day, six days a week. My house is cleaned every single week and I love it. When the tub is dirty, momma isn't happy, and when momma isn't happy, nobody's happy.
i started a chore chart too about a month ago. I was just sitting around doing nothing but i would get so overwhelmed when i would try to clean because i would try and do the whole house in one day and being 7 months pregnant, that was just impossible to me. So now I fully clean a room a day and then just tidy up the rooms that i have already done throughout the week. I love fully cleaning each room once a week (since we have so much dog hair i have to do a lot of "full out" cleaning) and having the house clean. and i no longer get overwhelmed about cleaning anymore!!
ReplyDeletep.s. don't worry i'm horrible at cooking and couponing. i was proud of myself for making 2 meals in a row last week haha :) the only thing i really coupon for right now is diapers... i can't seem to coupon for multiple things for some reason :)
I understand feeling like you are not superwoman so to speak. I am like you in alot of ways. I am learning though that if I shop at Aldi for our groceries and wal-mart only for baby needs I save us TONS of $. I can go grocery shopping for two weeks worth of food and only spend $90-$100.
ReplyDeleteI too have a cleaning chart. It has helped me alot in getting things done. The great part is, if I can't get one thing done due to being gone I still have 1 day a week that I can "catch up". Good luck with striving to be a better mom and wife!
